SUMMARY: Our research of the USPTO database showed that the ''Commercial Vehicles'' keyword as part of Nissan's program name (Nissan Commercial Vehicles) was not registered correctly, in logic. Hence, the trademark granted by the USPTO, in syntax, did not provide the protection Nissan thought it had. The trademark registration (correct in syntax, but wrong in logic) made it possible for Ford to easily capture the ''Commercial Vehicle(s)'' keyword from Nissan.
